You may pay the fine at any time before the due date, otherwise you must appear in court at the date and time shown on your ticket. Juveniles must appear in Court (see below).
If you fail to respond, (1) you can be charged with “Violation of Promise to Appear” or “Failure to Appear,” (2) you can be denied renewal of your driver’s license (additional $10 charge), (3) a warrant can be issued for your arrest (additional $50 charge) and (4) you may be turned over to a collection agency and a 30% fee added to the amount owed.
In accordance with Article 103.0031 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, there shall be imposed an additional fee of thirty percent (30%) on all debts and accounts receivable, i.e.: fines, fees, other debts, and costs that are more than sixty days past due and have been referred to a private firm for collection.
You may be able to require that this charge be dismissed by successfully completing a driving safety course. You will lose that right if, on or before your appearance date, you do not provide the Court with notice of your request to take the course.
*You may be able to have an expired registration, expired driver’s license or equipment violation charge dismissed if corrected before your court date. A dismissal fee of $10 to $20 is applicable. Please contact the Court for further information.
You may request that your court date be reset, one time only, by contacting the Court before your appearance date. The request mustbe in writing and may be mailed, emailed, or faxed.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR JUVENILES AND MINORS
If you are under 17 years of age you must appear before the Judge with your parent or guardian. DO NOT MAIL A FINE PAYMENT. You and your parent or guardian are required by law to provide the Court in writing with your current address and residence. You must keep the Court informed of your current address until your case is finalized or terminated.
ADMONISHMENT: If you are convicted of a misdemeanor offense involving violence where you are or were a spouse, intimate partner, parent or guardian of the victim or are or were in another, similar relationship with the victim, it may be unlawful for you to possess or purchase a firearm, including a handgun or long gun, or ammunition, pursuant to federal law under 18 U.S.C. §922(g)(9) or §46.04(b), Texas Penal Code. If you have any questions, you should consult an attorney.
PAYMENT BY MAIL OR IN PERSON BEFORE COURT DATE
If you wish to pay by mail or in person before your court date, please put your ticket number on the money order or check and include your signed copy of the ticket. Money orders and checks payable to the City of Stagecoach should be mailed to 16930 Boot Hill Road, Stagecoach, TX 77355.
Payment by check: If your check is returned for non-sufficient funds, you expressly authorize your account to be electronically debited or bank drafted for the amount of the check plus any applicable fees.
